One night after her performance at the Billboard Music Awards, Kesha was on stage again with another Bob Dylan cover. She traveled from the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas to Dylan Fest in Nashville to sing “I Shall Be Released.”
The festival, a commemoration of Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday, welcomed Kesha to the Ryman Auditorium. It was there that the “True Colors” singer performed the classic track about the promise of liberation. In one of the song’s verses, there’s several lines about a man “who swears he’s not to blame.” The song goes on, “All day long I hear him cry so loud, calling out that he was framed.”
Kesha was forbidden from discussing her ongoing legal battle with music producer Dr. Luke as a condition of her BBMAs performance. Her spot in the show was almost cancelled due to concerns from Dr. Luke’s record company. Kesha kept her promise to perform and avoid controversy on the big night in Vegas.
